VetrixBio Advances Dual-Target Approach in Osteoarthritis, Targeting Pain and Disease Progression

VetrixBio today highlighted its development strategy in osteoarthritis, centered on a dual-target biologic approach designed to address both pain and the underlying progression of disease.

Osteoarthritis is one of the most common chronic conditions in dogs, yet current therapies are largely focused on symptom management. VetrixBio’s lead program, VTX-304, is a bispecific antibody that combines mechanisms intended to reduce pain while also targeting pathways associated with cartilage degradation.

By integrating these mechanisms into a single therapy, the company aims to shift treatment beyond short-term relief toward more durable clinical outcomes. Early data from canine studies support the potential of this approach, with observed improvements in pain scores following a single dose.

“Treating osteoarthritis as a progressive disease, rather than just managing its symptoms, represents an important step forward,” said Graham Lumsden. “Our work is focused on developing therapies that reflect that shift.”

VetrixBio continues to advance VTX-304 through ongoing studies designed to further evaluate its clinical profile and potential role in the treatment landscape.

VetrixBio is a biotechnology company focused on developing novel biologic therapies for companion animals. Guided by the belief that pets deserve better medicines, the company is advancing a pipeline targeting osteoarthritis and cancer—two of the most significant unmet needs in veterinary medicine. VetrixBio’s approach centers on translating advances in biologics and immunotherapy into practical treatments designed to improve outcomes and quality of life for dogs and cats. Led by an experienced team spanning biotechnology, animal health, and commercialization, and supported by a network of scientific and clinical advisors, VetrixBio is committed to bringing the next generation of veterinary medicines to market.
