VetrixBio Reports Preclinical Results for VTX-301/302 in Cancer Program

VetrixBio today provided an update on its oncology program, highlighting continued progress in the development of VTX-301/302, a localized immunotherapy combination for the treatment of cancer in companion animals.

The program is focused on delivering targeted immune activation at the tumor site, with the goal of improving efficacy while limiting systemic exposure. In preclinical studies using the well-established “severe mouse melanoma model,” the combination demonstrated meaningful reductions in tumor volume and extended survival compared to controls, with combination therapy outperforming single-agent approaches.

The study was designed to evaluate both tumor response and durability of effect in a setting that reflects advanced disease, providing an early indication of the potential benefit of combining these mechanisms. While preclinical, these findings support further development of the program and its potential applicability in veterinary oncology.

Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death in dogs, with limited effective treatment options and significant side effects associated with existing therapies. VetrixBio’s approach is designed to build on advances in immunotherapy while adapting them to the practical realities of veterinary care.

“Immunotherapy has transformed cancer treatment in human medicine, but its application in veterinary oncology is still evolving,” said Peter Hanson, Founder and CSO of VetrixBio. “We believe localized delivery strategies can play an important role in expanding what is possible for treating cancer in pets.”

VetrixBio plans to advance VTX-301/302 through additional preclinical and early clinical studies as part of its broader oncology development strategy.
